9 Days Wilderness Escapades

At 7 o'clock you will be picked up from your hotel or residency within Nairobi CBD and commence the drive to Maasai Mara via the great rift valley view point where you will have a breathtaking view of the floor of the rift valley. On arrival, you will check in at the Mara Sopa Lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon after you check in depart for a game drive. Explore Kenya's top safari destination as you join the hunt for famous Africa's big five, big cats & wide range of other wildlife. The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s most famous parks. The wildlife viewing is superb throughout the year. The grassy plains and regular rainfall supports a huge population of herbivores, in turn attracting many predators. All three big cats are relatively easy to see. The yearly wildebeest migration coming through the park is one of the world’s most amazing wildlife spectacles.

Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Guests are drawn to this lodge built in an ethnic design, surrounded by a rich landscape, covered in fauna, from huge desert cacti to sweet smelling jasmine flowers, all within the fabled Masai Mara game reserve.

Spend the full day exploring Masai Mara in search of the Big Five. You will have picnic lunches in the Reserve as you scale the Mara beauty sited at the banks of Mara river. Optional: In the evening, Visit the local Maasai village for a Maasai cultural tour at USD 10 per person. Learn about the Maasai community and interact with the local Maasai people. A balloon safari at USD 450 per person(optional) can be organized early morning on this day then proceed with the normal program. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the great wildebeest migration. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna – lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas and vultures.

Early morning breakfast, with optional Maasai village visit. Then depart to Lake Nakuru National Park, with picnic lunch on the way. Arriving in the evening. Lake Nakuru is home to large numbers of the Greater and Lesser Flamingoes, white and black rhino, buffalos, lion, zebra, gazelle, the rare long-eared leaf-nosed bat, colobus monkey, rock hyrax, hippo, leopard, waterbuck, impala, gazelle, striped hyena, bat-eared fox, wild cat, reedbuck, golden cat, warthog, baboons and over 450 species of terrestrial and water birds. Dinner and Overnight at the famous Sarova Lionhill Lodge.

Early breakfast, then proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park. Game drive until 11:00 pm. Drive south along this scenic valley to Lake Naivasha. This is one of the Rift Valley's freshwater lakes and has a different ecology from that of the soda lakes. It is also home to a large variety of bird species. At Lake Naivasha and proceed with boat ride and a hike in crescent island for a unique walk with wildlife. The sanctuary is home for giraffes, water-bucks, elands, wildebeests, zebras, impalas and hippos among other wildlife one is likely to find at the conservancy. Birds include the fish eagles, ospreys, lily-trotters and many more. You will later this evening return to Sarova Lionhill Lodge for Dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, Proceed with your drive to Amboseli National Park. You will arrive by lunch time and check in at the Oltukai Lodge - your home for 2 nights.

Early Morning game drive that will be followed by breakfast. You will then depart with game drive en-route to Tsavo West National Park. Also referred to as the Land of the Man Eaters, Tsavo West is well known for the Lions that terrorized railway workers in the 1890s nearly halting the construction of the Kenya – Uganda Railway Line. You arrive at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge in time for lunch.

Kilaguni Serena Lodge is one of the first lodges built in the park situated in the view of Mt Kilimanjaro and sheltered by the volcanic splendorous of the Chyulu hills. This classic lodge overlooks its own water hole where animals come to drink water mostly in the evening or early morning. This lodge immerses you in breathtaking beauty and exhilarating adventures while surrounding you with every modern comfort. It is a tranquil, hushed, and cool refuge framed by Mount Kilimanjaro and the rolling, volcanic landscapes of the deep green Chyulu Hills.

Kilaguni Serena safari lodge contains 56 luxurious and elegant en suite rooms that are built-in African style with modern comfort. Rooms are well decorated and furnished with private en suite facilities like flushing toilets, hot and cold showers/Bathtubs, mosquito nets, hair driers, and private wooden balconies, terraces and sitting areas, you relax while enjoying the stunning view of the Chyulu hills, waterhole adjacent to the lodge, the park and surrounding area. Rooms are well equipped with Satellite, TVs, extinguishers with comfortable clean beddings and ceiling fans. There are fireplaces at the lodge that provides warmth to visitors staying at the lodges. Rooms are in different categories; standards, Deluxe, Executive in different sizes like single, double, twin and triple/family rooms at room cost 200$ per night and above. Note that in High season the rate goes slightly high than in Low season.

You will have an early morning game drive, followed by breakfast after which you will depart for Tsavo East National Park. You will arrive in Time for Lunch at the Ashnil Aruba Lodge. Ashnil Aruba Lodge is on the banks of Aruba Dam, built-in 1952 as a sport fishing recreational point in the park. The several watering holes nearby attract wildlife and spotting animals. This is easy because the park lies flat with Savannah grassland. There are a total of 40 deluxe en-suite rooms in the lodge. They have 8 interconnecting doors, 4 triple rooms with one interconnecting room, 6 luxury tents and 2 rooms suited for disabled persons.

The lodge features 52 rooms that are designed to blend in with the natural surroundings, offering guests a comfortable and authentic safari experience. The rooms are spacious and come equipped with all modern amenities, including en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and private balconies. You will do an afternoon game drive to explore the vastness of this wilderness park before returning to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy early morning game drives before breakfast then return to the lodge for a full breakfast. Check out and transfer to the train station for your next leg of the journey heading southwards to Diani.
